Cruise Control?

Question:

It died on me just a few days ago. I was on the freeway and went to turn it on, took my foot off the gas and the truck just began slowing down. Cruise control was completely inoperative. I’d like to check and see if it is just a blown fuse, loose cable or something simlar, but my Haynes manual doesn’t even say where the module is located. Anybody else have this problem on a 1992 Sport 4.0L 4×4? Can anyone tell me where the module is mounted? Which fuse? Thanks, Dan Driscoll

Dan: This may help.  I saved this discussion from an earlier thread on cruise controls…..seardch dejaview.com for even more! >I know this sounds silly, but it happened to me.  Poof! All of a sudden it >quite one day. >So, I looked it over and looked it over and voila!  All it was was the >vacumm rubber hose had fallen off.  OVer time the hose had worn into >loosness over the nipple and all I did was take a knife and cut about 1/4" >off the top and had a fresh new rubber hole that seated firmly this time. >  bingo. >HTH

I feel just as silly–my prob was a sticking brake pedal switch.  I fixed it by twiddling it after swooshing it with WD40.  I also cleaned and lubed the brake pedal hinge so it would return fully after application.  If only all repairs were so easy….. Guy A Ripley, TN
