Shock Installation

Question:

Is it possible to install front shocks on a 1992 Explorer without jacking the car up and or remvoing the front tires ?  It looks like it is, but just asking ?  I no longer have access to a shop quality floor jack and I’m not about to work on the Explorer using the factory jack. Same question for the rear shocks too. TIA

Response:

Yes it is, Just turn the wheel inward on the side you are doing in the front. For the rear just remove the spare. Good Luck Ed. > Is it possible to install front shocks on a 1992 Explorer without > jacking the car up and or remvoing the front tires ?  It looks like it > is, but just asking ?  I no longer have access to a shop quality floor > jack and I’m not about to work on the Explorer using the factory jack. > Same question for the rear shocks too. > TIA

Response:

Yes Again,     I did it this weekend.  Just a set of wrenches and some time is needed.  A bottle jack is nice to get some weight off  the lower bolts in a pinch (not necessary).  Just two bolts in front and three in the rear.  Good luck.  -Ken
