Sounds like ABS running.
Response:
Last weekend I replaced my front brakes including installing new rotors on my 1994 Explorer 4×4. Thanks to advice I found here and on Dr. Bobs Website everything went well and fairly easy. However, occasionally I am getting a strange response from my brake pedal. What happens is the brake pedal seems to engage at the very top of travel (higher than normal) and is accompanied by a "humming" noise and slight vibration from the pedal itself. The noise and vibration feel as though a pump is running. It only lasts a second or two then the pedal sinks to the normal level. I’ve noticed it mainly at slow speeds when the steering wheel is turned hard left or right and also while backing and applying brakes. I’m not really sure if it happens other than this. I did bleed the brakes (even though I never let air into the system while doing the job). Perhaps they need more? Any help is GREATLY appreciated! Todd Tucker
