2002 Explorer Eddie Bauer 4×4
Question:
Thanks Harlan. I got the 8 cyl, basically because that was the only one they had on the lot and I will be towing a boat in the mountains once in a while and I haven’t had an 8 in a long, ling time. I have many of the same thoughts as you such as the location of the message center and the passenger seat handle but it’s no huge negative for me. I really like the looks of the Explorer and it is quite a bit different from my ‘93 Explorer Sport. I went to the dealer convinced I would buy an Expedition but it was just too big for my needs in addition to the fact that the looks of the Explorer are new for 2002 and the Expedition is basically the same style from ‘96 and due for a change. When I bought the ‘93, I think they changed the style the next year. Thanks for your comments.

Got mine Wednesday. Decided I didn’t need the 8 cylinder, but liked the other features on the Eddie Bauer …. especially now that the name Eddie Bauer doesn’t appear on the side. I had the 6 in the 97 and liked it. I still like it in this one. Of course, I won’t be towing anything for very long. Drove one without the limited slip 3.73 and it didn’t seem to be as quick. Compared to my 97 it is much smoother in total operation. Didn’t think I was going to like the seats compared to the 97, but they aren’t so bad afterall. That ugly handle on the passengers side doesn’t bother me half as much as I thought it would, and my wife likes it. The message center could still be located in a better place, but the outside temp appears below the radio in the temp control section. OK, not so bad. I like the audiophile sound system even if I’m not really an audiophile. Great system. And I like the controls on the steering wheel; its a good "toy". Still wish there was a heater outlet in the back seat, but I had to have the moonroof again. Don’t like where they put the lock button for the rear window and rear door. Don’t particularly care for the two toned seats, but my wife does. I really like the clean styling compared, say, to the Trailblazer. Overall, I can’t think of much I don’t like about the vehicle. Glad I got it. Harlan – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – > I just bought one yesterday. I love it. I’d like to know others opinion of > this vehicle. Thanks
