I don’t think you can do that in a 2002 like the ones we have.  Apparently, Ford got smart and took the holes out.  I think the only way to remove the radio is to pry the center console bezel out.  then there should be two little plates attached at the bottom of both sides of the radio.  They are attached with screws so unscrew them.  I hope this helps. The fastest way I know to remove a radio from any car is to park it overnight at Boston’s Logan airport.

If its like previous years, you have to have a special tool.  Kind of looks like a pair of tweezers, but its a little bigger.  The only place I found one of these is at a local Car Audio store.  If you buy something form them, they will usually help you out, and remove it for you.  You just push the tool in, and squeeze, and pop the darn thing pops out.  There will be 2 little holes on both sides of the radio.  They are about 2 inches apart.  If you have those then you need that special tool.  You might be able to get it form a dealer, or have them allow you borrow one.  Hope this helps.
